One of theMid-Atlantic's most popular golf destinations for many
years is the scenic Cacapon Resort State Park. The challenging championship
golf course is set in the rolling foothills of the 2300 foot Cacapon
Mountain and is the centerpiece of the 6,000 acre park in Berkeley
Springs, West Virginia, which happens to boast the nation's oldest
spa.
Designed by famous golf course designer Robert Trent Jones, Sr.,
the layout makes prime use of the rolling hills at the base of the
ridge. Rated as one of the 130 best designed courses in the United
States, the Cacapon course features 73 well-placed sand bunkers
and three ponds. Holes #4 and #8 share a double green that is over
100 yards wide.
USA Today put Cacapon on its list of the Top 100 Golf Courses
in the country. Cacapon is located 30 minutes from I-81 and just
two hours from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
